The seventh annual meeting of the Friends of the Delaware County District Library was held on Wednesday, April 9th, 7:30pm at the Delaware Main Library.  During the business portion of the meeting Karen Cowan and Terry Meyers were elected to the FOL Board.  Eleanor Kalfs and Martha Noreault previously resigned from the FOL Board but have graciously agreed to continue as Auxiliary members and will support our Friends programs as volunteers.  Welcome Karen and Terry and thanks so much to Eleanor and Martha for all their past efforts for the Friends organization!

Martha Warner and Carolyn Quick, Delaware quilters extraordinaire and quilt instructors of "Life's a Stitch" quilting group at the Delaware Senior Citizens, Inc., presented an interesting program  about quilting techniques and types and brought with them many samples of their own pieces to demonstrate their skilled craft. Those attending asked many questions and got to examine all the samples after their presentation.  Door prizes were also offered.

Local quilters, who annually have their quilts on display at Delaware, agreed to leave them up during our annual meeting.  The quilts added to the ambiance and interest of the evening.  Thanks to those quilters and their generosity in allowing us see their fine work.

The "Life's a Stitch" quilting group generously created and donated a beautiful queen-size handmade quilt for a sealed bid auction to raise funds for the Friends.  The quilt was on display at both Orange and Delaware Libraries for several weeks prior to the annual meeting.  Sealed bids were accepted until April 8th.  The quilt was awarded to the highest bidders, Don and Sylvia Jester, who very generously bid $1,000, the night of the annual meeting.  Thanks to Don and Sylvia!

Thanks to Betty Simcox and her friend Tammy for the refreshments for the evening. The meeting closed at approximately 9:00pm.  Thanks to all who attended.
