Connie Pottle, Youth Services Manager of DCDL, sends her thanks for our Summer Reading Club sponsorship:
Thank you for your generous donation in support of the Summer Reading Club this year! Our Tech Services Specialist was able to negotiate a better than usual discount with our supplier so we were able to buy over 2,000 books for children & teens.  We selected a wide variety of books including award winners and books with popular characters such as Dora and Batman.  We also purchased a lot of good quality nonfiction which is generally more expensive than fiction books.   I've attached a few photos to give you some idea of what we purchased, but the pictures are just a small sample of what we bought.  Each book will receive a bookplate with the Friends logo saying that is a gift from the Friends. Children and teens pick one of these books when they have read 12 hours.

We really appreciate the donation.  As you know, it's extremely important for children to read during the summer to prevent summer learning loss.  Receiving a free book is a big incentive for many children who do not have books in their home. We would not be able to do this without your support!
