Celebrating July with the Friends!

July was a month full of community spirit for the Friends of DCDL as we joined our neighbors in celebrating our nation's semiquincentennial with special Fourth of July activities.

Celebrating Independence Day

We were proud to participate in the Fourth of July parades in Ostrander and Orange Township, where volunteers greeted paradegoers and celebrated the important role libraries play in strengthening our communities. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and meet new supporters along the parade routes.

Later in the month, the Friends also hosted an information table at the Community Picnic at the Orange Branch Library. The event provided another opportunity to connect with community members, answer questions about our organization, and share how Friends memberships and volunteer efforts help support library programs, collections, and special initiatives throughout Delaware County.

Summer Reading Club Activities

Throughout July, we also helped promote the Delaware County District Library's "Let Freedom Read" Summer Reading Club. The Friends of DCDL's fundraising efforts paid for the Summer Reading Club prizes and events. Among the special programs, we funded Raising Rabbits and Train Like a Surgeon. Watching children get excited about reading and the libraries motivates us! The Summer Reading Club reflects the library's commitment to lifelong learning, intellectual freedom, and the joy of reading for all ages. We were delighted to sponsor this fun and important program!

The Fun Continues!

This summer we again are participating at the popular Lolli-Pops! concerts in Powell. Visit our booth to get your youngster get a free children's book! The concerts continue into August, so it's not too late to stop by and say Hi to the Friends!
 
As we continue commemorating America's 250th anniversary, we're grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Delaware County District Library in bringing people together through literacy, learning, and community engagement. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit us, waved along the parade routes, or participated in Summer Reading Club. We look forward to seeing you at future Friends events!
